Come behind the scenes at Rugby Park with the Killie Chronicle

Here is what a shift working as a sports journalist looks like on a matchday at Kilmarnock FC.

Come with me behind the scenes on a matchday at Rugby Park as I reported for The Herald and Killie Chronicle.

Before, during, and after Kilmarnock’s 1-0 win against Dundee United on Saturday, I filmed a series of short clips to produce a ‘day in the life of a sports reporter’ video that would give our audience an insight into what our job involves.

The game ended 1-0 to the hosts with Marley Watkins netting the only goal of the game after 72 minutes.

The striker rose highest in an aerial challenge with goalkeeper Jack Walton, as he nodded home from close range into the empty net.

United felt a foul was committed in the action; however, referee David Dickinson saw no issue with the incident. The goal stood, and Killie held out for a vital three points.

It’s a free weekend coming up for Killie, but Derek McInnes and his players will return to action on Saturday, February 15 against St Johnstone.

New signing Tom Wilson-Brown will be in contention for that one having been signed on loan until the end of the season by the club from Leicester City.
