'First of many': Bruce Anderson in defiant Kilmarnock goal message
The frontman, 25, has also warned teammate Danny Armstrong that he wants penalties from now on.
Bruce Anderson has declared that his last-gasp penalty against Hibs will be the first of many goals for Kilmarnock – as he declared he wants to score in every single game.
The striker, 25, was composed as he sent the goalkeeper the wrong from way the spot as the match entered six minutes of added time at Rugby Park on Sunday. The ex-Livingston man’s goal cancelled out Joe Newell’s stunner earlier in the game, as David Gray’s side caught the hosts out with a short corner straight from the training ground.
Anderson was cute with his movement off the shoulder of Hibs’ backline. While he and Kyle Vassel didn’t seem to strike up the greatest partnership, they were effective in working their markers, as Anderson offered something slightly different to Killie’s other attacking options.
It was his deft first touch from a sublime through-pass into his feet by Liam Polworth that saw the referee point to the spot after Anderson was fouled inside the area. He made no mistake, as he warned teammate Danny Armstrong that he’s coming for his mantle as designated penalty taker.
“It probably would’ve been nicer if I scored in the first half, but to get off the mark, I’m delighted,” the forward said. “It’s massively important. As a striker, you just want to score as many as you can. Hopefully, that’s the first of many. I just want to score in every game.
“It felt like I was waiting a lifetime to take the penalty! I don’t know what they were checking. I always knew where I was putting it anyway, so I was confident that if I made the right connection that I would score.
