Though not quite as exciting as a new signing, there’s always a buzz when it comes to kit release day - those shirts are something you’ll be seeing for a long time.

Late last week Kilmarnock released their home and away kits for the 2025-26 campaign, and you can already spot plenty of people wearing them around Ayrshire.

Are they any good though?

Obviously it’s all subjective, but we’ve taken on the task of rating every home and away (no third kits) number since the turn of the millennium.

Insofar as it’s possible, we’ll be divorcing the aesthetics of the kit from what actually happened on the pitch because, believe it or not, the two things appear to be unrelated.

For my money the home kit is a stone-cold classic - minimalist design, good blue to white ratio, and the round badge is distinctive.

Even the sponsor, which could not be more early-2000s if it tried, is unobtrusive.

Unfortunately the away kit leaves a lot to be desired.

There’s nothing wrong with a black kit in principle, but a black shirt with a burgundy collar? Sure, it conjures memories of Craig Dargo’s goal in the League Cup semi-final but it’s not actually a very nice shirt.

Home: 9/10

Away: 4/10
