I’d like to wish Stuart Findlay a speedy recovery from injury.
The defender, 29, was yesterday ruled out for anywhere between two to six months by Derek McInnes.
It was clear as soon as he hit the deck around 30 minutes into the 3-2 loss at Dundee on Sunday that he was in big trouble.
It’s not nice to see any player in such visible distress, let alone a stalwart as popular as Findlay is in Ayrshire. Credit must go to Killie’s medical team and the Dundee doctor for swiftly helping him.
The manager revealed to the media that the outcome of Tuesday night’s scan will determine exactly how long Findlay will be on the sidelines, but that it’ll be for a significant period of the 2024/25 campaign.
For anyone who missed Wednesday’s sobering update, the Scotland cap has suffered severe ligament damage to his left ankle.
The positive, as McInnes framed it, is that it’s not broken nor dislocated. However, as most with even a vague interest in football, or sport in general know, ligaments are no laughing matter.
If the worst-case scenario is realised, then Findlay’s season could potentially be over.
