Kilmarnock sign Jack Thomson on a pre-contract
The 25-year-old, who currently plays for Queen’s Park, has agreed to join Killie in the summer.
Kilmarnock have secured the signing of Jack Thomson on a pre-contract, the Killie Chronicle understands.
The 25-year-old, who currently plays for Queen’s Park, has agreed to join Killie in the summer.
A product of Rangers’ academy - having joined at the age of 10 before leaving aged 22 - Thomson is a central midfield who can also provide cover at centre-back.
The midfielder has made just under 150 senior appearances in his career, with 133 of those coming at Queen’s Park. He has scored five goals and notched 11 assists during his four seasons at the club.
Speculation linking Killie with Thomson have circulated throughout the month.
Derek McInnes confirmed that the club had signed a player as part of planning for the 2025/26 season while attending a social event hosted by Tam Cowan in Glasgow last night.
And it’s understood that Thomson is the player the manager was referring to.
It’s believed the club is still actively looking to add to the first-team squad before Monday’s transfer deadline, albeit McInnes publicly stated that he wouldn’t expect any further business to be done.
While not totally out of the question given the volatile nature of the window, it’s unlikely that Thomson will become a Killie player before the summer.
Thomson will hope that he is swapping the Championship for the Scottish Premiership with the move, however, Killie still have work to do to secure their top-flight status for another season.

Meanwhile, Duncan Barlow has signed his first professional contract with the Ayrshire side. His contract runs until the summer of 2026.
The 17-year-old defender has played a pivotal role in a successful campaign for Chris Burke’s Under-18s team so far this term.
Sheffield Wednesday had shown interest in the centre-back, however, the teen has opted to commit his immediate future to Killie.
