Kilmarnock have a slightly below-average record against Motherwell on their own patch.

There hasn’t been all that much to shout about from a Killie perspective in Lanarkshire - in recent seasons anyway.

However, it does seem to be the place where several Killie teams over the years have scored some of their best goals.

Plenty of calamitous goals have been conceded at Fir Park over the years too, with a couple from Kevin van Veen springing to mind in recent times.

We go into this Motherwell game in a positive frame of mind though, following on from Sunday’s much-needed victory over Hearts.

So, here are our top 11 Killie goals at Fir Park from the last 30 years or so…

Liam Polworth

Pick that one out!

With the team down to 10 men and floundering badly at the foot of the table, an unlikely but stunning comeback from two goals down was completed with this strike by Polworth.

Danny Armstrong’s heavily deflected shot sparked the comeback.

But this strike from the 30-year-old is one of the best ‘touch and hits’ from any Killie player in my lifetime certainly.

Lewis Mayo did well to turn the ball around the corner for the playmaker, who did all the rest by firing the ball, bending away from the goalkeeper, into the top right corner.

It was his last goal for the club too.

Here’s hoping that almost exactly two years to the day from that night on December 23, 2022, the midfielder can add another to his collection this Friday night.

Willy Aubameyang

Okay, this goal is not so much about the finish, although, the way the striker - brother of former Arsenal star Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang - had to slide in to finish off the move was a lovely way to cap it all off.

As seen in the clip, it all starts with some neat passing around the halfway line after Liam Kelly intercepted a loose first touch by a Motherwell player.

Alexei Eremenko attempts a through-ball to either one of Craig Bryson or James Dayton (what a team we had back then), but neither could quite get on the end of the pass.

The Motherwell goalkeeper then poorly kicked clear, only to find David Silva, who remained in a dangerous position for Killie.

The winger retained possession and poked the ball onto Eremenko.

He jinked one way, then the other, just biding his time to wait for Dayton to make a run in behind the ‘Well defence before squaring it for Aubameyang to tap home.

A beautiful, well-worked team goal by Killie, with much of it owed to the utter brilliance of the Finn.

Gary Holt

A sensational strike by a club legend.

The long throw-in was expertly laid off to the midfielder, who thundered the ball beyond the helpless goalkeeper, by Scottish Cup goal hero Paul Wright.

Simple, but incredibly effective and nonetheless impressive.
