The Dundee fixture quirk that Kilmarnock had to make work
Killie will travel to Dens Park AGAIN this Saturday despite playing there THREE times last season.
A stick-on stalemate.
That’s the sort of tag that could be attached to Kilmarnock’s games against Dundee last season.
With the exception of quickfire goals by Kyle Vassell and Marley Watkins to fire Killie to victory in the fourth round of the Scottish Cup, each of the four league matches between the teams ended in draws.
Late drama was also associated with most of those matches, with Dundee equalising on two occasions at Dens at Rugby Park, and Robbie Deas salvaging a draw in the dying embers of a third 2-2 between the sides in March earlier this year.
Killie travel to Dens Park AGAIN this Saturday despite going there THREE times last season. In a real fixture list quirk, it’ll be the first of three league games before November is out.
The second away match at Dens was brought forward to early November due to neither side participating in the Premier Sports Cup, meanwhile, the third game in Ayrshire remains on November 30.
The sides were separated by 10 points in the end, so it was in matches against other teams that the real difference was made between Killie achieving European football and Tony Docherty’s side finishing sixth.
Derek McInnes is expecting more of the same in the City of Discovery this weekend.
