Things haven't gone to plan at Liverpool but there's no questioning the talent of the 21-year-old.

What Calvin Ramsay can bring to Kilmarnock after sealing loan deal

Kilmarnock have completed their first signing of the January transfer window and it’s an exciting one, as Calvin Ramsay joins on loan from Liverpool.

The 21-year-old moved to Anfield in a deal worth £4m which could potentially rise to £6.5m if certain conditions are met, though given he’s struggled with injury one imagines that’s unlikely.

Ramsay follows Luke Chambers and James Balagizi in making a January move from Merseyside to Ayrshire, a coup for Derek McInnes as he turned down interest from elsewhere.

Already a Scotland international, the right-back is looking to get his career back on track after a difficult time since moving to England.

Here’s what he can bring to Killie.

One thing that immediately stands out about Ramsay is his ability with both feet.

Though he prefers his right, the youngster is able to come inside on his left and provide shots and crosses and has played at left-back on occasion in his previous loan spells.

At Wigan he often played behind Dion Rankine who, like Danny Armstrong and Fraser Murray, likes to come inside.

Usually that would mean the right-back hitting the byline, but as can be seen from the below clip against Mansfield, Ramsay is capable of going on either side.

His first and so far only senior goal, for Aberdeen against Dundee, was another example.
