It’s been a little over a month since Kilmarnock played their final fixture of the 2025-26 campaign and yet here we are with the squad heading out to the Netherlands for their pre-season training camp.

A lot has happened in the space of that five weeks or so, with a new manager coming in and the departures of some key men from the past two seasons in Danny Armstrong, Stuart Findlay, and Joe Wright.

New boss Stuart Kettlewell has walked into what one might term a ‘soft rebuild’, with the aim of using the club’s youth system alongside the foundations of last season’s squad and some new recruits.

Here are the key questions facing the new boss ahead of his first pre-season at the club…

How does he get on with the players?

On first impressions, pretty well. This trip will be vital in forming those bonds.

Of course, it’s early days right now, but from what we understand and know of Kettlewell from his previous jobs in management, and also what we’ve heard coming out of the club in the first few weeks of his tenure, he’s somebody who likes to form close relationships with his players.

It would appear he’s very much cut from the same cloth as Derek McInnes in that regard.
