It’s perhaps inevitable that the most intriguing new signings are those about whom fans know little or nothing.

Few had heard of Marcus Dackers when he was introduced as a Killie player with a Sopranos-themed video but that fact, along with him being huge, has led to more interest in him than the likes of Jamie Brandon or Scott Tiffoney.

Former manager Derek McInnes would no doubt say “he’s got a good size about him”, but is there more to his game than that? Does he have, to reach into the big bag of clichés, good feet for a big man?

We’ve taken a look at some of Dackers’ games, as well as his stats, to try and ascertain what he’ll bring to Rugby Park.

First and foremost we should say here that Dackers has signed a one-year deal after a season in which he was in and out of the team at Morecambe - he’s probably going to be a squad player and likely will take up the impact sub role Innes Cameron has had for the last couple of seasons.

Watching some of his games down south it’s unsurprising to learn that he is not, at least on this evidence, some kind of undiscovered Zlatan Ibrahimović.

That said, there’s some evidence that he’ll offer a bit more than Cameron in terms of goalscoring and linking play.

Take this example from Morecambe’s 4-1 win over Fleetwood Town in January.
